10th annual Cardboard & Duct Tape Sled Race

Join us for the 10th annual Blackwater Falls Cardboard & Duct Tape Sled Race. This year’s theme is Harry Potter.
Registration is from 9:00AM – 10:00AM. The race begins by 10:15PM. And the event is concluded by noon for afternoon sledding sessions to resume.
The fun starts with you making a sled of cardboard and duct tape able to withstand a race down the Blackwater Falls sled run. There are awards. The goal is to have super safe sledding fun with the theme of Harry Potter.
This year the registration fee is $5 per person for a sled team of up to five individuals or less. There is an event T-shirt available to commemorate the 10th year of this family-fun event. Purchase the T-shirt for $15 with your early registration before February 4, 2022. Day of T-shirt purchase is $20. Sizes for youth are small to x-large and for adult sizes from small to 2X.
Prizes are awarded for Harry Potter themed decorated sled entries and not per person. Pets cannot participate in the event. Hot food, snacks and beverages are available at the Sled Run building.
Now a little about the getting the sleds designed and created:
The use of extremely hard cardboard such as carpet tubing is not permitted.
Any style or color, but must be less than 50 percent of the total design of sled.
Paint can be used for decorative purposes only.
Bicycle helmet required for all riders under the age of 14. Adults are encouraged to wear a helmet.
The sled needs a Team Name.
Family Friendly design and attitude
Construction materials not permitted included glue, resin, staples, plastic, string, tape or other supplies. Must be only cardboard and duct tape! Get Creative!!
Tip Top Award to most theme based visually appealing sled to judges
Spirit Award to team having the most ‘fun’ and sportsmanship
Speed Award to the best overall team time on downhill descent
$5 per person (5 team members or less)
Open to all ages
Time for sleds is not counted until all team members cross the finish line; participants may not push or pull sleds for the entire race.
Helmets are not provided by the park but each team member aged 14 and younger must wear a helmet during the race.
A team may be required to race more than once.
No activities or pets permitted on the hill during the race.
A team must consist of 5 individuals or fewer.
Must be able to demonstrate or verbalize how to stop the sled.
Advanced registration is encouraged
A registration form and waiver must be completed prior to race.
All written and oral rules and regulations apply to participants and spectators.
