The 23rd Annual Leaf Peepers Festival is presented by the Tucker County Alpine Festival and we are celebrating the blazing colors of Autumn in this high mountain paradise! You are invited to join in on all the fun and activities September 23-25, 2011 in Tucker County, WV.

Avoid the race day rush! Register (or check-in if pre-registered) at the FRONT BAY of the DVFD for Run For It 2011, a 2k walk & 5k walk or run scheduled for the following morning. Sign up, or show up if pre-registered, to pick up your race bib, view the course and get all your questions answered.

As you stroll through the WV Appalachian Craft Show, stop and cast your vote for your favorite photo. Adult & junior categories, along with Black & White and Professional categories. All photos must be matted and turned in to the Information Center by 5:00 p.m. Friday September 23rd .Public Judging. Voting takes place from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Winners announced at 4:30pm. Sponsored by Tucker Community Foundation. Entry fees, sponsor donations and cash prizes support projects, causes, and charities throughout the region. Walk, stroll, run, or roll (wheelchairs and strollers only) for more than $34,000 in cash prizes. Blackwater Canyon Bike Ride & Parsons Trestle Bridge Opening
The guided ride leaves the Purple Fiddle Coffeehouse in Thomas at 1pm and concludes with the opening of the restored rail trestle bridge near the Parsons Railroad Depot. The existing trail down the Blackwater Canyon is renowned for its scenic vistas and sites of historical interest, but is not paved and could be considered rigorous for inexperienced riders. Riders not planning to bike the round trip between Thomas and Parsons should check the www.highlandstrail.org website for shuttle arrangements. All riders are required to wear helmets and anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Free Historic House Tour, Davis.
Located in Davis at the corner of 3rd Street and Thomas Avenue, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Herman A. Meyer House was originally built by Henry Gassaway Davis as the superintendent house for his Davis Coal & Coke Company. Later becoming the home of prominent town resident Herman A. Meyer, the house boasts soaring ceilings, period antiques, and spectacular woodwork harnessed from the local timber industry, upon which the Town of Davis was founded. Children welcome. Over 700 ducks are released into Beaver Creek (Located behind the Dollar General). First, Second, Third & Last Duck to cross finish line wins $$. Duck Tickets are $2.00 each or a book of 5 for $8.00 & can be purchased at the Information Center or at the Craft Show at the Davis Fire Hall. Tickets must be purchased before Noon on Sunday. All profits help fund the Leaf Peepers Festival!

This is the first year for the Leaf Peepers Corn Hole Doubles Tournament. It is $20 per team and will be double elimination. There will be cash prizes for First, Second & Third place. Pre-register at the Information Center in Davis or register day of at the Car Show tent. Pre-register by 12:30 and Bags fly at 1pm.

Everyone loves a cake walk! Join in on the old-fashion fun of walking to music and if your number is selected you win a cake! All proceeds go to the DTEMS 8th grade class.

16th Annual Pet Show/Adopt a Pet Program, Parking lot across from Davis Fire Hall, Davis.
Your pet could win a prize for Best Trick, Best Dressed or Best of Show and many more categories. Show will take place rain or shine. The Tucker County Animal Control will also be sponsoring their “Adopt a Pet” program in conjunction with the Pet Show. Sponsored by the Mountaineer Humane Society.
