Douglas Falls/Blackwater Canyon Hike, June 11th

Join us for a 10 mile hike starting off at the abandoned coke ovens by Douglas Falls, then through the junction of North Fork Blackwater River and the main river, across from Lindy Point. We will hike down the canyon through mixed hardwood forest. Spectacular views of the canyon and the river will be seen along this hike. Easy walking trail, but no way out once started. Please bring food, snacks, and plenty of water. We will start at Canaan Valley Resort, taking the shuttle to the coke ovens, the shuttle will leave at 9am.  Registration Form available on their website.

WV Days Celebration, June 17-19th

Canaan Valley Resort will host the Annual WV Days Celebration with a civil war re-enactment, authentic encampment, battlefield and surgery demonstration, presented by the Barbour Grays from Philippi, WV; 1st. West Virginia Cavalry Company “C”, the 140th Volunteers from Green County, PA, and the WV Light Artillery. These volunteers bring history to life for all to see. Family oriented – see women, service men and children dress in period clothing. West Virginia’s local artisans and crafters will be on hand to display and sell their wares on Saturday.

Irish Bowling, June 19th

In the highest-elevation valley east of the Mississippi, this open road with sweeping curves is an ideal contrast to the boulders and rhododendron thickets at nearby Blackwater Falls. Enjoy a two-day two-event road bowling weekend at Blackwater and Canaan. (Blackwater will host event on Saturday, June 18th). Competition begins at 1:30pm. Teams of 2-4 players. $5 per bullet (ball).

Father’s Day Golf Tournament, June 19th

3pm: Start Time / 9 hole format. Father/son, daughter, grandchild, niece or nephew. Register at the pro shop by 2:45pm. Teams will be flighted and prizes awarded to flight winners. *Entry fee (TBD). *Fee includes green fee, cart rental, awards and refreshments after play. 304-866-4121 x2632 (pro shop).

Timberline Resort

Rhythm and Blues Weekend, June 4-6th

A fun filled weekend with live rhythm and blues music Friday and Saturday evening at the resort.

Laurel Mountain Trail Rides and Western Weekend, June 18-19th

Timberline Stables will be offering guided rides through the higher elevation, where you’ll be able to see the blooming mountain laurel.  You can also bring your own horse!  Pack lunches can be provided upon request.
Friday and Saturday evening Country Western Music, squaring dancing and BBQ Rib special will be offered at Timber’s Pub.  Guests are encouraged to dress western! 

Bluegrass Festival Weekend, June 24-26th

JuneFest, June 6-8th

Summer version of our annual Senior Fling in September.  A variety of programs for anyone age 50 or over will be offered.  Pre-registraion required.  304-259-5216

WV Day Celebration, June 18th

Parsons

The 150th Anniversary of the battle of Coricks Ford, June 24- 26th

The event will commemorate the Civil War Battle of Corricks Ford which took place on July 13, 1861. Registration and setup for reenactors and vendors will open on Friday afternoon.   A variety of activities are planned for Saturday & Sunday including battlefield tours, speakers, vendors, music, Civil War camps, and re-enactments. There will be crafts, food, and living history throughout the weekend.  For a complete schedule please go to their website.

Biking Events

Canaan Mountain Bike Festival, June 24-26th

Weekend activities include a ride clinic with Sue Haywood on Friday, guided gourp rides for all levels on Saturday and on Sunday Morning trail work  followed by a bike hash.  Presented by the Tucker County Trails club.   

Live Music

Purple Fiddle Cafe

A family-friendly and non-smoking music venue and deli-style restaurant offering live music just about every night!  Please go to their website for a complete schedule.  Cafe offers wonderful lunches and dinner. 

Mountain State Brewing Company

One of the two local breweries in Tucker County, WV.  The Pub offers music through out the year and Thursday evening dinner specials.  Please go to their website for a music schedule and pub dining hours.
