Mid Summer Walk Between the Parks, August 6th

Enjoy a guided 8 mile hike between Blackwater Falls State Park and Canaan Valley Resort State Park.  Bring snacks and water – lunch is not provided.  Please go to their website to register.

Canaan Backyard BBQ & Chili Cook-offs, August 13th

Join competitors as they fire up their grills & cook stoves to compete for the coveted first place bragging rights to Best BBQ and/or Chili in Canaan Valley. Open to all participants. Douglas Falls/Blackwater Canyon Hike, August 20th

Join us for a 10 mile hike starting off at the abandoned coke ovens by Douglas Falls, then through the junction of North Fork Blackwater River and the main river, across from Lindy Point. We will hike down the canyon through mixed hardwood forest. Spectacular views of the canyon and the river will be seen along this hike. Easy walking trail, but no way out once started. Please bring food, snacks, and plenty of water. We will start at Canaan Valley Resort State Park, taking the shuttle to the ovens, the shuttle will leave at 9:00am.  Please go their website to register.

Annual Summer Frontier Weekend, August 5-7th

Go back in time (circa 1835) for a weekend in the old West with authentic cow camp and chuck wagon complete with all the appropriate gear.  Witness a live shoot out on horse back just behind Timberline Ski Lodge.  Also enjoy trail rides, barbeque, square dancing on the deck and old western and mountain music live by the Saddle Tramps.  For more information please go their website. 

Bluegrass Weekend with Fiddlin’ Mike, August 19-21st

Over the weekend bluegrass heritage will be protrayed by renditions performed by Fiddlin’ Mike and his Fiddlin’ Around Band, local performers and Sonshine Rivers.  Come out and see Fiddlin’ Mike a three time Pennsylvania champion fiddler!

Timberline Motorcycle Rallyy, August 26-28th

Poker runs, vendors, biker games, motorcycle shows, prizes, DJ/Karaoke, and much more!  This year’s rally proceeds will go the Pilot Dogs, a non-profit organization to train and furnish pilot dogs to guide the blind.  Check out their website for more information and registration forms.
