Canaan Valley Resort
Join the event planning staff of Canaan Valley Resort along with local vendors for our Spring Wedding Fair at the Bear Paw Lodge from 12:00pm to 4:00pm on April 09, 2011. Enjoy food tasting and receive wedding ideas from florists, wedding planners, photographers and many more. Canaan Valley Resort’s culinary staff will present several foods for your tasting and our staff will be on hand to answer your questions and discuss all your many options.
Bring your friends and family and work on your memory creations throughout the weekend. Christa Wildesen of Stampin UP Scrapbook Design will provide consulting and instructions throughout the retreat. There will be vendors, door prizes, contests and more!
Family fun filled weekend in the heart of springtime in the valley. Several planned activities including a visit from the Easter Bunny.
Help us clean the Park! Become a volunteer and help clean trails throughout the park grounds (remove sticks, limbs, and other debris). We will also conduct an invasive species weed pulling. Come dressed to get dirty – and wear appropriate shoes (waterproof or hiking boots, tennis shoes). Bring gloves. Canaan will provide bottled water for all volunteers. The fun begins at 9am (meet at the Nature Center). Bring the kids – we’ll have nature coloring books for our junior volunteers to take home. Get out and enjoy a day in the spring sunshine and help your local state park maintain its beauty.

Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge
All events will start at the Refuge Visitor Center. Come dressed for the weather, wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring gloves. Feel free to participate in any or all of the following:
• Presentation: Why Restore Red Spruce? 9:30am Followed by tree planting at 10am
• Presentation: What Makes a Trail Sustainable? 1pm Followed by trail work at 1:30pm
• Presntation: Using Native Plants in Your Garden 3pm Followed by a garden project at 3:30pm
7pm, at Refuge Visitor Center. Not many of us will get a chance to visit this remote wilderness, yet we are glad that this land is conserved. In December 2010 the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge turned 50 yrs old. Join us as we celebrate this milestone with a journey in pictures and stories.
1pm at the Refuge Visitor Center. Join Master Naturalist volunteers for a look at early spring wildflowers.
6:45pm at the Refuge Visitor Center. Participants will learn to recognize the song of the woodcock, as well as how to do the survey, and what information to record. Ken will also talk about how woodcock populations are doing, both here in the valley and nationwide. Then participants will be assigned, individually or in small groups, to a survey area. Participants perform the survey, complete the data sheets and return them when finished. No previous experience is needed.

Blackwater Falls State Park
Wake up folks! It’s time for annual Telethon to benefit S.N.O.R.E., the Society for the Narcolepsy of Restorative Engineers. You are invited to attend a concert and fundraising event to raise awerness and find a cure for this heartbreaking and hair raising illness. Join us as we solve the murder and rescue some bad hair-do’s while wee are it.
Rain, Snow or Sunshine. An old fashion egg hunt for children 12 yrs of age or younger. Hunt is at Harold Walters Nature Center.
